A History of Extreme Viticulture
Our project was born from this enchanted millstone on the eastern side of Etna, at 500 meters above sea level, in Mascali (CT).
A few hectares, very low yields, manual harvesting and extreme viticulture, are the ingredients that make us harvest the best grapes:
Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Catarratto.
Sciàre dell'Alba is made up of two words, "Sciàra" and "Alba".
"Sciàra", which combines the Arabic etymology of "ša῾ra" for uncultivated land with the Latin etymology of flagrare "to burn", indicates the accumulations of volcanic waste: just like our soil, of volcanic origin, mainly sandy, rich in skeleton and organic substance.
"Alba", the moment when night becomes day, east, just like when the Sun rises, it bathes the Ionian Sea and our land, on the eastern side of Etna.
